Holy Tent (9)

The most important furnishing in the Holy Tent was the Box of the Agreement. It was made of acacia wood, covered with gold and was 3.75 feet long, 2.25 feet wide and 2.25 feet high. The Box had a lid called the mercy-cover. On the ends of the mercy-cover were two golden angels. Here the High Priest sprinkled blood once a year.
Hebrews 9:4 lists the things that were inside the Box of Agreement. They were: a jar of manna, Aaron’s rod and the Ten Commandments. These three things reminded the Israelites that God provided for them, that He was powerful and that He protected them.
Sprinkling blood on the Box of the Agreement was the way the Israelites could have their sins forgiven. In the New Testament, Jesus told His disciples that the only way to God was through Him. John 14:6 says, “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.’”
