Hope

In our Bible Reading today, Jesus taught a crowd of more than 4,000 people. Some of the people had traveled a long distance to see Jesus. The people were hungry and needed food. In verse 4b, Jesus’ followers asked, “Where can we get enough bread to feed all these people?” With God’s power, Jesus was able to perform a miracle. Jesus fed all those people with seven loaves of bread and a few fish!
These verses remind me of another Bible story from the Old Testament (Exodus chapter 16). The Israelites had left Egypt and were in the desert. They were hungry and asked God for bread. God sent them a special kind of bread called “manna.”
These two stories help us understand that God takes care of His people. Romans 15:4 says, “Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us. Those things were written so that we could have hope. That hope comes from the patience and strength that the Scriptures give us.”
Do you need to trust God more today? Read the Bible and learn how God has provided for His people. You can always depend on God.
