Hymns (5)

Louisa Stead (1850-1917), her husband and her young daughter were visiting a beach at Long Island, NY. They heard the cries of a child who was drowning. Louisa’s husband tried to save the child, but both he and the child were pulled under the water and drowned.
Louisa and her daughter had a hard time surviving after that. They were very poor, but they depended on God to take care of them. One morning they had no money or food. Louisa opened the front door and found some money and food on their doorstep. That day, Louisa wrote the words to the hymn, “‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.” The words of that song show us Louisa’s great faith. “I’m so glad I learned to trust Him, Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend…O for grace to trust Him more.”
In our Bible Reading, Jesus shared words of comfort with His disciples. He told them in verse 1, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me.” No matter what happens today, depend on God and His Word.
