I Don’t Want To!

What do you have to do today that you don’t want to do? Go to work? Tell someone some bad news? Visit a grouchy neighbor? Tell someone you are sorry and ask for forgiveness?

Sometimes God expects us to do certain things, but we don’t want to do them. If we obey God and do what He wants, we become stronger Christians. Doing those things teaches us self-control. They help us learn how to do things that are difficult. We also learn to be content and satisfied with the life God has given us. Doing what God wants may also give us a cheerful attitude and teach us to smile and persevere.

In 1 Corinthians 15:58, Paul encouraged the Christians in Corinth. “So, my dear brothers and sisters, stand strong. Don’t let anything change you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord. You know that your work in the Lord is never wasted.” When we give ourselves fully to God’s work, then we will truly be serving Him.

Maybe today God will give you something to do for Him, but you will say, “I don’t want to!” Change your attitude and start serving God. Then you will become more like Jesus.
