Jeremiah (10)

I love to read fairy tales where the good guy wins, the bad guy loses and the beautiful girl finds true love. At the end of these stories we read the words: “And there was great rejoicing.”
Some people don’t like to read the book of Jeremiah because it talks about punishment and judgment. But our Bible Reading today is very different. Even though God had to punish His children for their sins, He kept His promise. God brought them home to Israel so He could bless them. At that time, “there was great rejoicing” among the Israelites.
While the Israelites were in captivity, they looked forward to the day when they could return to Israel. In the same way, we can look forward to the day when we will have peace in heaven with God. Revelation 21:4 says, “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, sadness, crying or pain. All the old ways are gone.”
Take time today to thank God for His promise of eternal life with Him.
