Jeremiah (8)

Often we have a close relationship with another person. We say that we “know” them. We should have a close relationship with God, too. We should “know” God.
In our Bible Reading, Jeremiah spoke about two kings – Josiah and Jehoiakim. Josiah did many good things, but Jehoiakim did many bad things (verse 17). In verse 16, Jeremiah spoke God’s words to Jehoiakim, “…what does it mean ‘to know God?’ It means living right and being fair. That is what it means to know me.” Josiah had a close relationship with God. He did things that pleased God. But Jehoiakim did not know God. Jehoiakim did not do good things.
If you know God and are close to Him, you will do good things. You will try to “love him [God] with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength” (Mark 12:30b).
God wants you to know Him and be close to Him. Show God’s love to people around you today.
