Jesus (5)

Many years ago, on a sunny day in December, I was shopping in a mall in a nearby state. Very suddenly it started snowing hard. They announced on the mall speaker system that it was snowing heavily and that they were closing the mall. Immediately everyone rushed toward the doors to get to their cars. In the crowd, people were jostled and shoved. Some people were even pushed to the ground.
Maybe the crowd in our Bible Reading was like that — people pushing and shouting angry words. Probably some people in the crowd didn’t even know Jesus. But they became excited and started shouting along with the rest of the crowd. In the end, they chose to kill Jesus.
Have you ever wanted to follow the crowd? Have you ever been tempted to do something wrong just because those around you were doing it? Paul reminds us in Romans 12:2 that we should not be doing what everyone else is doing. Instead, we should think and act like Jesus.
