Jesus’ Birth (4)

Our Bible Reading today tells us that after Jesus was born, some wise men came to the city of Jerusalem. These men were very interesting people.
We don’t know a lot about the wise men. They were probably from the country of Persia. Maybe they traveled as far as 700 miles to Jerusalem. The Bible does tell us that these men followed a star and that they came to worship Jesus.
We do not know how many wise men traveled to worship Jesus. But verse 11 tells us that they gave gifts to Jesus – gold, frankincense and myrrh. These gifts were gifts like someone would give to a king. These men knew that Jesus was the true King.
While Jesus lived on earth, He didn’t live like a king. He didn’t have a palace or lots of money. But He was still the King over all people on earth – Jews and non-Jews. God loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to die for all people.
Jesus died for you and me, too. He is our King. We can receive His grace and His blessings. Thank God today for sending His only Son to die for you!
