Jesus’ Blood (3)

Jesus’ blood is important to us because it gives us eternal life. In our Bible Reading, Jesus told a group of people that they must eat His body and drink His blood. “Believe me when I say that you must eat the body of the Son of Man, and you must drink his blood. If you don’t do this, you have no real life” (verse 53b).
Jesus was not telling people to eat His physical body and drink the blood in His body. Jesus was telling them to believe that He was God’s Son and to follow His teachings. In these verses, Jesus called Himself “the bread that gives life” (verse 48). People need bread (food) to stay alive. In the same way, we need Jesus if we want to live forever with Him. When we eat the Lord’s Supper, we remember that Jesus gave His body and His blood when He died on the cross. And we remember that Jesus rose again and gives us the promise of living forever with Him.
I am excited to think about living forever with Jesus! I hope you are excited, too. —
