Jesus’ Blood (5)

Jesus’ blood is important because it cleanses us. 1 John 1:7b says, “If we live in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood sacrifice of Jesus, God’s Son, washes away every sin and makes us clean.”
Recently my husband and I cleaned out our basement. At the end of the day, I was very dirty. There were cobwebs stuck in my hair and my hands and face were covered with dirt and scratches. I couldn’t wait to get in the shower and be clean again.
In our last devotion we talked about being near to God. If we want to be near to God, we must first allow Jesus’ blood to make us clean. Verse 9 of our Bible Reading tells us how this happens. “But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this…He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.”
When we become a Christian, we are clean. But then we continue to sin. Praise God that we can confess our sins and allow Jesus’ blood to cleanse us every day!
