Jesus’ Blood

Our Bible Reading talks about animals that the Israelites sacrificed to God. These sacrifices were the way for God to forgive their sins.
For many years, the Israelites made sacrifices to God so that their sins could be forgiven. These sacrifices meant that an animal had to be killed. Then God sent His Son, Jesus, to earth. When Jesus died on the cross, He was the final great sacrifice.
Before Jesus died, He ate a meal with His disciples. Jesus gave them bread and wine. “In the same way, after supper, Jesus took the cup of wine and said, ‘This wine shows the new agreement from God to his people. This new agreement begins with my blood (death) that I am giving for you’” (Luke 22:20).
We do not need to sacrifice animals today. Our sins are forgiven through Jesus’ death. Only Jesus was good enough to accept the punishment for our sins. Thank God today for sending Jesus to be our perfect sacrifice.
