Jesus Healed (1)

When Jesus was living on earth, He healed people. Why did Jesus heal people? First, He wanted to help people who were sick. And second, Jesus wanted people to know that His power was from God.
In our Bible Reading today, Jesus healed a man who was paralyzed (crippled). Some people brought the man to Jesus. Jesus told the man that his sins were forgiven. The Jewish teachers said (verse 3b), “This man talks like he is God — that is blasphemy.” (Blasphemy means saying things against God.)
Jesus wanted to prove to the people that He had the authority to forgive sins. To show His authority, Jesus healed the man, too. “So Jesus said to the paralyzed man, ‘Stand up. Take your mat and go home’” (verse 6b).
Jesus showed that He truly is God’s Son. By healing sick people, Jesus showed that He had power and authority from God. We, too, can believe that Jesus is God’s Son, and we should give Him our love and devotion.
