Jesus’ Miracles (2)

In our Bible Reading today, we learn about ten men who had leprosy. This disease was quite common at the time when Jesus lived on earth. It was a horrible skin disease. People who had leprosy had to live away from their family and friends. Often people died from leprosy. When lepers were around other people, they had to shout, “Unclean, unclean!” to warn the people to stay away from them.
Jesus healed ten lepers. Then He told them to go to the Jewish priests. This was one of the commands that God gave Moses for the Jewish people. All the men left to go to the priests. But only one man came back to thank Jesus for healing him.
Jesus asked in verse 17b, “Where are the other nine?” Jesus knew where the other men were. But I think He said this to remind us that often we forget to say “thank you” to God. Some people only say a short prayer of thanks at mealtime or at bedtime. These people do not take time to thank God for everything He has given to them.
I hope that you will take time today to thank God for the many blessings He has given you.
