Jesus’ Prayers (6)

The last prayer of Jesus that we will look at is one He prayed while hanging on the cross. In verse 34, Jesus said, “Father, forgive these people that are killing me. They don’t know what they are doing.”
Jesus prayed for His enemies — those people who were killing Him. But this was not the first time Jesus talked about praying for our enemies. In Matthew 5:44 Jesus said, “But I tell you, love your enemies. Pray for those that do bad things to you.”
Often we sit around gossiping about our enemies or hoping that bad things will happen to them. Instead, we should be praying for them and asking God to bless them. Praying in this way shows our humility before God.
I pray that this study of Jesus’ prayers has challenged you to experience a deeper communication with God. He loves you so much and wants to have a growing relationship with you!
