When I was a child, my parents sometimes sent me to the grocery store. Other times, my mother sent me next door or across the street to borrow something from our neighbors. Each time my parents sent me on an errand, they gave me special instructions so I would know what to do.
Now that I am an adult, I am sometimes sent by a family member or a friend to do a special “mission.” This may be running an errand for my husband or buying food for a special family meal.
In our Bible verses for today, Jesus sent His disciples on another kind of mission. He sent them out to share with others about His death and resurrection. Jesus said, “It was the Father who sent me, and I am now sending you in the same way” (verse 21b).
We have a mission today, too. God sends us out to our neighbors and friends. We are to tell them about God’s plan of salvation through Jesus. Who will you tell today?
