Jewelry (1)

Today and for the next few days we will talk about jewelry.
In the book of Exodus, we read about Moses going up on a mountain to be with God. While Moses was gone, the Israelite people became impatient. They stopped trusting God. The people asked Aaron to build them an idol to worship. Aaron told the people to bring their gold earrings to him. From those earrings, Aaron made an idol shaped like a calf. The people worshiped the idol instead of worshiping God! This made God very angry, and He punished the Israelites.
Today we may not bow down and worship an idol made of gold. But sometimes we make things more important than God. This makes God angry, too. In Luke 4:8b, Jesus quoted a verse from the Old Testament. He said, “You must worship the Lord your God. Serve only him!” Jesus knew that we should only worship God.

Every day we should use our time, money and abilities to serve God. Think about ways you can serve and worship God today.
