John was an amazing man. He wrote several books in the New Testament – the Gospel of John, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John and Revelation. John and his brother, James, were fishermen. Maybe John and James fished with two other disciples, Peter and Andrew.
John was very close to Jesus. John was one of the twelve men (apostles) that Jesus chose to be with Him. John saw many of Jesus’ miracles. He was in the Garden of Gethsemane with Jesus before He was crucified. When John was older, he lived in the city of Ephesus and was an elder (leader) in the church there.
In John’s letters, he encouraged Christians to live right and love other people. John often wrote about these things: understanding the truth about God, avoiding false teachers and following God’s commands. But most of all, John wrote about showing God’s love through our actions. Jesus loved God, and He loved other people. We should do that, too.
I am glad John was faithful to God. He set an example for us to follow.
