The story about Jonah is one of my favorite Bible stories. There are many lessons we can learn from reading the book of Jonah. One important lesson is that the choices we make often affect other people, too.
In chapters 1 and 2 of Jonah, we learn that the people from Nineveh were doing evil things. So God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and tell the people to stop doing bad things. What choice did Jonah make? He decided to disobey God and run away.
God caused a big fish to swallow Jonah, and he spent three days and nights in the fish. Jonah prayed to God, and God rescued Jonah. In our Bible Reading today, we learn that Jonah finally went to Nineveh. The people in Nineveh believed what Jonah said, and they stopped doing evil things.
In the end, Jonah chose to obey God. Because of that, God did not punish the people of Nineveh. God has special jobs for each of us. If we obey God, we may help other people know about Jesus and become Christians. Be sure that you choose to obey God today.
