Joy

1 Peter 1:8 is my favorite Bible verse. This verse says, “You have not seen Christ, but still you love him. You can’t see him now, but you believe in him. You are filled with a wonderful and heavenly joy that cannot be explained.”
Often we think the words “joy” and “happy” mean the same things. In American Sign Language, we sign both words the same way. But we can have joy and not be happy. Or, we can be happy and not have joy.
Joy means knowing that God is in control of our lives. Sometimes bad things happen to us. We are not happy, but we can still have joy. Why? Because we know that God knows what is best for us.
Some people have many good things happen to them: wealth, possessions, good health, success. These things make them happy. But the only way these people can have real joy is if they let God lead them every day.
God wants you to be full of joy today! Trust and follow Him.
