In Bible times, kings were very important people. Today we will learn that Jesus was also called a king.
In the Old Testament, the prophet, Zechariah, told about Jesus. In Zechariah 9:9b he said, “Look, your king is coming to you! He is the good king that won the victory. But he is humble.” Here Zechariah called Jesus a king.
Our Bible Reading tells us about Jesus being crucified on a cross. Verse 38 says, “At the top of the cross these words were written: ‘THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.’” The people who wrote these words meant to make fun of Jesus. But the Jews who followed Jesus knew that He really was their King.
Jesus is our King, too. In 1 Timothy, chapter 1, Paul talked about Jesus. In verse 17a he said, “Honor and glory to the King that rules forever.” Jesus will be our King forever! I hope that today you will welcome Jesus to be the King of your life!
