Light for the World*

The Bible uses symbols to help us understand things. Often the symbol of light is used to describe truth, goodness or righteousness. The Bible also uses the symbol of darkness to represent evil, lies or sin.
When God sent Jesus to the earth, He showed the world that He loved them. Jesus came like a bright light to a world full of darkness. When people give their lives to Jesus, His bright light shines and takes away the darkness of sin.
During this Christmas season, people will decorate their houses and yards with beautiful lights. When you see these lights, think about Jesus, your wonderful Savior. Jesus brought a new hope and a new promise to all the people in a world of darkness. And don’t forget to tell people about Jesus this Christmas. Jesus said He came to this world “so that every person that believes in me would not stay in darkness” (John 12:46b).
