Little Children

Our Bible Reading tells us that people “brought their small children to Jesus, so that Jesus could touch them” (verse 13). But Jesus’ followers told the people not to bring their children to Jesus. We do not know why Jesus’ followers did this. Maybe Jewish culture would not allow children to bother someone while they were teaching. Or maybe the followers did not think it was important for Jesus to see the children.
What is important is how Jesus responded to this situation. He said (verse 14b), “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to people that are like these little children.”
Jesus’ followers might have closed their hearts to the children, but Jesus took the children in His arms and blessed them. Jesus loved all the children, and He loves every person in the world today!
Whether you are a child or an adult, Jesus wants you to come to Him and follow Him today. He is waiting to receive you as one of His children.
