Lost (1)

Today and for the next two days, we will look at three stories that Jesus told in Luke, chapter 15. All of these stories tell about something or someone who was lost. In the first story, Jesus told about a shepherd with 100 sheep. Then the shepherd discovered that one sheep was missing. So he searched for the sheep until he found it.
What happened next? The shepherd was very happy that he had found the lost sheep. He told his friends and neighbors, “Be happy with me because I found my lost sheep” (verse 6b).
Then Jesus says that this story is like one sinner who decides to repent of his sins and change his life. When that happens, there is rejoicing in heaven. “There is more joy for that one sinner than for 99 people who don’t need to change” (verse 7b).
We, too, should be happy when someone becomes a Christian. Do you know someone who is a new Christian? Tell them that you are happy for them and encourage them to continue to follow Jesus.
