Mark (3)

Today we will continue to look at verses 1-12 of Mark, chapter 2.
The Jewish teachers were upset because Jesus forgave the man’s sins. In verse 7b these teachers said, “Only God can forgive sins.” These men did not want to believe that Jesus was God’s Son.
So Jesus said to the men (verse 9a), “The Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins. But how can I prove this to you?” Then Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, stand up. Take your mat and go home” (verse 11). The man stood up, took his mat and walked out of the room! Jesus used this miracle of healing to prove to the teachers that He had the power to forgive sins.
When we sin, we need to ask God to forgive us. Why? Because when we disobey God, we break His rules. If we are truly sorry for our sins, we can know that God will forgive us.
We can have forgiveness because Jesus was willing to die on the cross for our sins. Thank God today for His wonderful gift of salvation through Jesus.
