Mark (7)

Yesterday we talked about Jewish traditions. In these verses, Jesus gave three examples: fasting, sewing a patch on a coat and pouring new wine into old wine bags.
By the time Jesus lived on earth, the Jews had hundreds of traditions that they followed. Some Jews said that their salvation depended on them keeping all these traditions.
Some Christians today are like those Jews. They say that their salvation comes from doing good things like helping the poor, going to church and giving money to missions. As Christians, we should do these good things, but we have salvation because of God’s grace. God loved us and sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins.
If you are a Christian, you will want to do good things. But remember that these good things do not save you. Praise God for His wonderful grace today!
