Minor Prophets (1)

With this devotion, we begin a series based on the Minor Prophets in the Old Testament. The Minor Prophets are the last 12 books in the Old Testament — Hosea through Malachi. These books of prophecy are called “minor” because they are shorter in length than the Major Prophets books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel and Daniel. All of these books of prophecy are important to help us understand God’s message.

All of the Minor Prophets books have the same basic message: 1) An explanation of sin and judgment; 2) A warning about God’s judgment; 3) A call for repentance; and 4) A promise of future redemption.

It is important for us to study these 12 books. They help us understand how much God hates sin and how much He loves us. Our Bible verses for today remind us that long ago, God spoke through His prophets. But now God speaks to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Obey and follow Him today!
