My Puppy

I have a puppy. She is a very lively puppy. She is always excited to see me when I come home. My puppy loves to run outside. But sometimes she does not pay attention to me. Then I must discipline her. Why? Because she needs to learn how to obey me and do what is right. After I discipline my puppy, she shows me that she still loves me.
I think that we are like my puppy. We get excited, and we do things without thinking about them first. And sometimes we don’t pay attention to what God tells us in His Word, the Bible. Then God may punish us to show us that we need to obey Him.
Verse 8b of our Bible Reading says, “So, if you are never punished, then you are not true children and don’t really belong to God.” Wow! If I am really God’s child, then He will punish me. I punish my puppy so she will become a good dog. Verse 10b explains why God punishes us. “But God punishes us to help us, so that we can become holy like him.”
My puppy accepts her punishment and then shows her love for me. I hope that you will pay attention to God’s punishment. Don’t rebel against God. Instead, thank God for His love and His help.
