Near to God (4)

I enjoy singing old hymns. Often the words of these hymns explain how I feel about God. One of these favorite hymns is “Near to the Heart of God.”
Some of the words to that song are, “There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God. A place where all is joy and peace, near to the heart of God.” When I am near to God, I feel more peaceful. I am less nervous and much happier. My heart feels at rest.
But when I try to live my life without God, I do not feel secure, happy or peaceful. Verse 25 of our Bible Reading says, “In heaven, God, I have only you. And if I am with you, what on earth could I want?” These words explain why I am happier when I am close to God.
God wants us to feel His strength and peace. He wants us to be in a place of quiet rest, near to His heart. I hope that you want to be close to God today.
