Obedience

Abraham (also called Abram) is a great example of obedience to God. Our Bible Reading today tells us that God told Abraham to leave his home and his people, and move to a new land. Verse 4a says, ?So Abram left Haran just like the Lord said.? Abraham obeyed God.
Later, God asked Abraham to kill his own son, Isaac. Again Abraham obeyed God. Genesis, chapter 22, tells us that Abraham was ready to sacrifice Isaac, but an angel of the Lord stopped Abraham from killing Isaac. In Genesis 22:12b, the angel said, ?Now I can see that you do respect and obey God.?
God expects us to obey His commands, too. In John 15:10, Jesus said that He obeyed God?s commands. And in Acts 5:29, Peter and the other apostles said to the Jewish leaders, ?We must obey God, not you!?
If we love God, we will obey His commands. 1 John 5:3a says, ?Loving God means obeying his commands.? I hope you will love and obey God today.
