Only One Way

Bible Reading: John 14:1-14
If you travel any place in the United States, you will probably see some kind of road construction. Roads are always changing and being repaired. Often when there is road construction, I must take a detour (a different road) or wait in a long line of traffic. Both of these choices usually require more time.
My husband always carries maps with him. It is easy for him to find another road so we can avoid construction. But when I am traveling alone, I take a detour or sit in a long, slow line of cars.
In our Bible Reading today, Jesus talked with His disciples. He told them that He was going away. Thomas asked in verse 5b, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. So how can we know the way?” Jesus answered in verse 6b, “I am the way. I am the truth and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.” The way to God is through Jesus. Jesus said that He is the only way.
It is wonderful that there is only one way to God and heaven. There are no different ways or detours. The one way to God and eternal life is through His Son, Jesus.
