I was traveling on a parkway in New Jersey. I came to a toll booth. I had an EZ-Pass sticker on my windshield. The toll machine scanned the sticker and recognized me as a member of the pass program. As I drove through the toll booth, the word “PAID” flashed on the screen.
God’s Word says that all people have sinned and that the punishment for our sins is death (eternal separation from God). Romans 6:23 says, “When people sin, they earn what sin pays – death. But God gives his people a free gift – life forever in Christ Jesus our Lord.” But God sent Jesus to die on the cross. He took the punishment for our sins.
When I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I became a member of God’s family. Because of Jesus’ death, God marked my sins “PAID.” The toll booth machine knew that my toll was paid. In the same way, when I die, God will know that Jesus paid the price for my sins.
Thank God today for forgiveness through Jesus.
