In our Bible Reading today, we read the story about Ruth and Naomi. Ruth was married to one of Naomi’s sons. Naomi’s husband died and then her sons died, too. Naomi decided to go back to her home in Bethlehem.
Ruth and her sister-in-law, Orpah, wanted to go with Naomi. But Naomi told Ruth and Orpah to stay. Orpah decided to stay in Moab, but Ruth refused to leave Naomi alone. In verse 16b, Ruth said to Naomi, “Don’t force me to go back to my own people. Let me go with you. Wherever you go, I will go. Wherever you sleep, I will sleep. Your people will be my people. Your God will be my God.”
Ruth went to Bethlehem with Naomi. Ruth gathered food for them to eat. She took care of Naomi. Ruth and Naomi were family, but I think that they were good friends, too.
Naomi and Ruth are a wonderful example of how we should love each other. Naomi and Ruth respected each other and took care of each other.
I hope that you will try to be like Ruth and Naomi today.
