Patience (5)

As I write this devotion, it is 2:00 in the morning. My physical problems are causing me pain, and I cannot sleep. We all have times of suffering in our lives. These times are opportunities for us to show patience.
The Bible is filled with verses that encourage us when we suffer. Reading these verses helps us be more patient. Romans 12:12 says, “Be happy because of the hope you have. Be patient when you have troubles. Pray all the time.” 1 Peter 2:20b tells us, “…if you suffer for doing good and you are patient, this pleases God.”
In our Bible Reading today, James helps us understand that we will suffer but we need to be patient. “If you let that patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be” (verse 4).
When you suffer, be patient. And depend on God’s Word to give you peace and strength.
