I was doing my weekly house cleaning. I was happy because I was working fast. Suddenly, the vacuum cleaner began making strange noises. I kept vacuuming the floor. But soon the vacuum stopped, and I could see that the belt was broken.
I replaced the belt and turned on the vacuum. Soon I smelled burning rubber. Several times I adjusted the belt, but each time it was not right. Finally I read the instruction book and successfully repaired it. By that time, I didn’t have much patience.
In our Bible Reading today, James gives us encouragement. He says in verses 2 and 3 that we should be happy when we face troubles. “Why? Because you know that these things are testing your faith. And this will give you patience.”
Every day we face troubles that give us more patience. The problem with the vacuum helped me have more patience. Maybe you are impatient with your children or your broken car or the people you work with. Don’t give up. Ask God to help you. He will help you overcome your problems and give you patience.
