Paul’s Second Trip (2)

While Paul and Silas were in Philippi, they met a girl who had special powers from the devil. Paul removed the evil spirit from her. The men who owned the girl became very angry. The leaders of the city beat Paul and Silas and threw them in jail.
Our Bible Reading tells us in verse 25 that Paul and Silas were praying and singing songs to God while they were in jail. Suddenly God made an earthquake happen! Paul and Silas could have escaped, but they stayed in the jail. The jailer said to Paul and Silas in verse 30a, “Men, what must I do to be saved?” Paul and Silas told the jailer and his family about Jesus. “Then the jailer and all his people were baptized” (verse 33b).
Many people think that this is an amazing story because God made an earthquake happen. But I think it is an amazing story because Paul and Silas were praising God in jail. Paul and Silas were hurt and in jail, but still they praised God!
This is a lesson for every Christian. No matter what problems you face today, don’t forget to take time to praise God.
