When my sister, Jean, and I were very young, we were playing outside. Suddenly a very strong wind came up. The wind picked us up and tossed us across the yard. We were frightened, and we started to cry.
My mother and my aunt heard the sound of the wind and looked out the window. They saw us tumbling toward the road. My mother and aunt rushed outside and caught us in their arms. They held us tightly and calmed our fears.
Sometimes frightening things happen in our lives. Our worries and fears make us feel like we are being tossed around. But we don’t need to be afraid. Our Bible verses today remind us that we should not worry or be afraid. “Don’t worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks for what you have” (verse 6).
If you begin to worry or feel afraid today, ask God to help you and calm your fears. He will give you peace.
