Peter the Apostle

Peter was one of Jesus’ closest friends. When Jesus arose from the dead, Peter was one of the first people to see Jesus alive. Later, Peter became a strong leader in the early church. He was not afraid to tell people about Jesus. Peter even did miracles in Jesus’ name.
But Peter also made many mistakes. Peter started to sink when he tried to walk on the water to Jesus (Matthew 14:25-32). Peter tried to fight the guards who came to arrest Jesus (John 18:1-11). Three times Peter said that he did not know Jesus (John 18:15-18, 25-27). We read in Galatians 2:11-14 that Peter let false teachers influence him. Peter was not a perfect person.
Even though Peter was not perfect, God still used him to be a strong leader. Peter was not afraid to preach about Jesus, even when the religious leaders threatened him. And Peter was not afraid to die for Jesus. Peter loved Jesus and had faith in Him.
We are like Peter – we are not perfect. But God can still use us. We just need to have faith in Him!
