Prisoner

Several years ago, we laid new carpet here at Deaf Missions. What a mess! Most of the furniture was moved into other areas of the building. My office area was full of desks and filing cabinets. There was only a narrow path through the maze of furniture.
I finally sat down at my desk and tried to do some work. I was surrounded by boxes piled high. Dr. Noe’s huge sailfish was behind me, on top of several boxes. When I turned my head, the fish’s fin poked me in the neck. I felt like I was in prison. I wanted to be in a large, open area again. I wanted to be free!
Verse 23b of our Bible Reading says, “That other law working in my body is the law of sin, and that law makes me its prisoner.” Our sins make us a prisoner. We are surrounded by our sins. The only way we can be free from our sins is through Jesus. His death on the cross frees us from the punishment for our sins.
Maybe you feel like a prisoner today. Jesus can free you and give you a new life. Follow Him today.
