Proverbs (1)

1478070000Today we will begin a series of devotions based on verses from Proverbs. This book was written by King Solomon, and it is a wonderful guidebook for us.
Proverbs has 31 chapters. Chapters 1-9 are teachings from a father to his son. One example of this is Proverbs 3:5: “Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge.” These chapters remind us to always rely on God.
Chapters 10-29 are words of wisdom from King Solomon. In these chapters Solomon teaches us to fear God, work hard, be honest, live the right way and give generously. Proverbs 16:3 is an example of this: “Turn to the Lord for help in everything you do, and you will be successful.” Chapters 30-31 of Proverbs contain more wise sayings and instructions on finding a good wife.
Tomorrow we will continue looking at verses from the book of Proverbs. Pay attention to God’s Word, and you will find wisdom.
