Psalm 23 (5)

The first part of Psalm 23:4 says, “Even if I walk through a valley as dark as the grave, I will not be afraid of any danger. Why? Because you are with me, Lord.”
In the late spring, a shepherd takes his sheep to the meadows higher in the hills. But often the best way to reach these higher meadows is to walk through the valleys. Sometimes these valleys are filled with dangers: poisonous weeds, sharp rocks or animals waiting to attack the sheep. But the shepherd safely leads the sheep through these valleys to meadows full of green grass.
Sometimes we must walk through dangerous valleys, too. These times may be financial problems, sickness, relationship problems or the death of a loved one. But during these times, God is with us. We don’t need to be afraid. Why? Because we know that God will take care of us – just like the shepherd takes care of his sheep.
Maybe you are walking through a valley today. Remember that God is always with you. He loves you and wants to take care of you.
