Sometimes we think that we can’t do anything important for God at our workplace, in our neighborhood or at our school. We think this because we look at all the people around us who don’t believe in God. Then we are scared to show others that we are a Christian.
God doesn’t expect us to do big and powerful things for Him every day. But He does expect us to be like “salt” in our world. In verse 13, Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth.” What did Jesus mean?
When I am cooking, salt is very important. Without salt, some foods have no taste. But when salt is added, these foods taste better. In the same way, God wants us to make the world a better place by being “salt.” We can do this by being loving, kind, gentle and generous. Jesus said if we live that way, people “will see the good things you do” and “praise your Father in heaven” (verse 16b).
I hope you will do some “salty” things for God today!
