Savior

Today we will talk about another name for Jesus — Savior. Our Bible Reading tells us about a time before Jesus was born. An angel spoke to Joseph in a dream The angel talked to Joseph about Mary. “She will give birth to a son. You will name the son Jesus. Give him that name because he will save his people from their sins” (verse 21).
When Simeon was in the temple, he saw Mary and Joseph with baby Jesus. Simeon held Jesus in his arms and said to God, “I have seen with my own eye how you will save your people” (Luke 2:30). Simeon knew that Jesus was the Savior that the Jews had been waiting for.
The angel and Simeon called Jesus “Savior.” Jesus wants to be your Savior, too. He was willing to die a terrible death on the cross so that your sins could be forgiven. If you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior, pay attention to Peter’s words in Acts 2:38b, “Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you in the name of Jesus Christ. Then God will forgive your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
