Serve God Faithfully

My husband and my son watch a lot of games on TV. I have noticed that often a team will win a game after they have lost several games. It is good that they kept on playing and did not give up.
Often in life people give up. They get behind in school so they quit going to school. Or they start a new business and give up when it becomes difficult. In our Bible Reading today, Paul encourages Timothy to serve God faithfully and not give up.
Paul uses himself as an example. Paul says in verse 6, “My life is being given as an offering for God. The time has come for me to leave this life here. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have served the Lord faithfully” (verses 6 and 7). Then Paul said that because he served God faithfully, a prize was waiting for him — “the crown that will show I am right with God” (verse 8a).
