Seven Churches (6)

The city of Thyatira was located 30 miles southeast of Pergamum. Many Roman soldiers were stationed there. Thyatira was known for producing wool and beautiful dyes.
Jesus began His message to the church by praising them. “I know what you do. I know about your love, your faith, your service, and your patience. I know that you are doing more now than you did at first” (verse 19). But then Jesus talked about a woman who had led many Christians into doing sinful things. Jesus said about these unfaithful people, “…I will repay each of you for what you have done” (verse 23b).
Today our culture is becoming more corrupt. It is easy to follow things in the world instead of following God and His Word. We should pay careful attention to the warning that God gave the church in Thyatira. We need to remember Jesus’ encouragement to these Christians: “…hold on to the truth you have until I come” (verse 25).
