In the beginning, God created a perfect world. But Adam and Eve sinned. Because of their sin, pain, sorrow and death came into the world. Also, God cursed the ground. “The ground will grow thorns and weeds for you” (Genesis 3:17b). Every time I see thorns or weeds, they remind me how much we sin.
Sin also made a separation between us and God. We cannot take care of this problem ourselves. So God sent His Son, Jesus, to earth to be the perfect sacrifice for our sin.
Our Bible Reading today tells us how much Jesus suffered for us. Jesus was whipped, and the soldiers placed a crown of thorns on his head. Then the soldiers mocked Jesus, and finally they killed Him on a cross. Jesus did this so you and I can be united with God.
Sin came into the world. But Jesus conquered sin through His death. Praise God for the gift of salvation through Jesus!
