Stand Strong

After the Civil War in America, a former soldier spoke at a Christian meeting. He said that during the war, he and his men were at a small fort. They were ready to surrender when they received a message from their commanding general. The message said, “Hold the fort! I am coming!”
A man named Philip Bliss was in the audience listening to that soldier. This story encouraged Philip, and later he wrote a Christian song called “Hold the Fort.”
In our Bible Reading today, Paul encouraged the Christians in Thessalonica to “stand strong and continue to believe the teachings we gave you” (verse 15b). We should always stand strong for God. Jesus always was faithful and obeyed God. We should do that, too.
God knows that sometimes we will do wrong and fail. But He still expects us to stand strong for Him and His Word.
