When Jesus was on earth, He suffered a lot. Many times people made fun of Him and rejected Him. The last few hours before He died on the cross, Jesus suffered terrible pain and mocking. Because Jesus experienced those things, I think He understands our pain and suffering.
Jesus knows what it is like to suffer. But Jesus also knows that sometimes it is good to suffer. He does not always take away our suffering. Instead, when we suffer, Jesus helps us become stronger Christians. Jesus wants us to be strong Christians. Why? So we can continue to share the Good News with other people.
In our Bible Reading today, Peter said in verse 13, “But you should be happy that you are sharing in Christ’s suffering. You will be happy and full of joy when Christ shows his glory.”
Maybe you are facing some kind of suffering today. I hope you can remember Peter’s encouragement to be happy and full of joy.
