Thanksgiving (1)

Tomorrow Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving Day. This is a tradition that goes back to the Pilgrims who settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1621.
History books tell us that the Pilgrim men killed some geese and ducks. These would have fed their group for almost a week. But then about 90 Indians showed up. So for two days, the Pilgrims and the Indians ate together and tried to communicate with each other. They only had a few buildings, so probably they sat on the ground as they ate.
The Pilgrims thanked God for helping them survive through the past year. And, they also thanked God for the good harvest that would help them through the coming winter.
Our Bible Reading today begins with these words: “Thank the Lord, because he is good! His love is forever” (verse 1). I believe that the Pilgrims would agree with those words of thanks to God.
Take time today to thank God for all He has done for you.
