The Faithful Father

Abraham had great faith in God. Often God tested Abraham’s faith. But the hardest test of Abraham’s faith is found in our Bible Reading.
God promised Abraham that he would have a son. Isaac, Abraham’s son, was born when Abraham was 100 years old! God also promised Abraham that he would have many descendants (grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc.) through Isaac. Then God told Abraham to kill Isaac and offer him as a sacrifice!
What would Abraham do? I am sure God’s command did not make sense to Abraham. This was a very strange command for God to give to Abraham. But he wanted to obey God. God had always blessed Abraham and kept His promises. That’s why Abraham wanted to obey God.
Because of his faith, Abraham prepared to do what God told him to do. At the very moment when Abraham was ready to kill Isaac, God stopped him. Abraham was a very faithful man. Isaac was faithful, too. He obeyed his father through the whole experience. Both Abraham and Isaac are great examples for us to follow.
