The Letters

I love to write letters and send them to my family and friends. While Paul was traveling, he started many churches. He was not always able to return to the churches he started. So Paul wrote letters to some of these churches. In these letters, Paul talked about problems in the church. He also encouraged the people to stay close to God.
The next twenty-one books of the New Testament are letters to churches and individuals. We know that Paul wrote thirteen of these letters – Romans through Titus. We do not know for sure who wrote the book of Hebrews. The last seven letters were written by James, Peter, John and Jude.
Our Bible verses today are the opening words of Paul’s letter to the Romans. This letter and the other twenty letters were written to people long ago. But they still contain teaching that is good for all Christians today. These letters also tell us how the early Christians worshiped God.
I hope that you will take time to read some of these letters. Ask God to help you grow as a Christian.
